The Big Five in the race for the French Championships

Les Papas go up towards Rouen

The Papas took their first steps on the Île-de-France scene with a very good second place at the Coupe de l'X on October 10th. The Club Mickey confirmed its dominance over the other Sciences Po campuses during the WEIS in early November, by winning the mixed tournament.

Sure of their team and their strengths, the Papas unsurprisingly climbed to first place in their group. After their historic victory 3 sets to 0 against the Dauphine team, qualification for the French N1 Championships is almost assured. Barring a mistake on the basketball floor against the last of the groups (Centrale and HEC), we will meet the Papas in Rouen on the 2nd and 3rd of April. Until then, our volleyball players aim for European summits and put their title back on the line at the Parisiennes tournament from February 7th to 9th.

Les Biches, suspense always suspense

Les Biches line up a team of character for this 2024-2025 season and have a lot of ambition on the field and at the Eden Pub. Undefeated in both the league and the Coupe de l'X, they are offering an almost perfect first half of semester, under the leadership of the Wadii, the strategist. Second in their group in the Championship, the Lenglen players are preparing to play two decisive matches in the race for qualifications for the National Championships. The last match, with an air of final, will be held against Dauphine, the first in the group. As usual, Les Biches have a maximum of suspense in store for us, even if the outcome of the JISPO next April does not leave much room for doubt, let's be clear.

The APLP, the third time it's the right one

This year, Ile-de-France is way too small for the APLP players. 3 wins in 3 matches, our players crush HEC 58-3 or Polytechnique 43-10, scores to make some rugby teams blush. Even the derby against Dauphine turned to the advantage of our players with a wide 21-20 victory. This team thinks bigger than everyone else, the objective is clear; the French Championships (CFE). And for good reasons, this year, the APLP combines two generations of players who each experienced defeat on the brink of the coronation the last two years. We all hope that the third time will be a good one. To do this, our players will have to show a strong mind, starting with the last match against Dauphine, the eternal rivals, on February 13 at the Maison du Handball in Créteil for a place at the CFE.

BAFE, in need of challenges

The numbers speak for themselves, la Bafe it's 3 matches and 3 wins in the first half of the season. The team, very complete in all positions, can count on a formidable workforce, and on an unwavering determination. For the resumption, the Baffeuses are preparing to meet Pôle de Vinci, also undefeated and especially the reigning vice-champions of France this Thursday, January 29. After this crucial stage, they will have an equally decisive group match left. If la Bafe wants to set foot in the Ile-de-France semi-final, it will have to win at least one of these two matches. The rest is well known: semi-finals, final, interregional playoff match and the coveted trophy of French N1 Champion. Down for challenges, la Bafe intends to win a few more medals, those of the Parisiennes tournament in the racket, of the Paris Basketball Student Game on rebound and finally of the 3-point JISPO. To make every effort, our players will also participate in the CFE 3v3 qualifiers in May.

The Birds, stronger than the Stade Toulousain

Halfway through this university rugby season, the Birds have already experienced a roller coaster of emotions, tournaments and challenges! For their first outing together, the players of the biggest team at Sciences Po made an impression as early as the Coupe de l'X, with a well-deserved second place.

Unstoppable, the Birds have a series of victories, at the WEIS in Reims for the Pioupious, a victory in a friendly BIRDS vs RCP XV, a victory during the derby of Parisiennes at ESSEC, and the victory of an OVALU. In the Championship, seriousness did not leave them and the Birds recorded 4 wins and 2 losses in qualifying stages for the French to the X Championships.

Unsurprisingly, the Birds offered us a thunderous first semester. But make no mistake, the second half of the year promises to be even more exciting, as the qualifying stages resume for a few more weeks. We are told in the earpiece that Marc Lièvremont will not comment on the 6 Nations this year, but on the long-awaited return of the Birds to the legendary OXPO tournament opposing Oxford to Science Po, to the Parisiennes, to the prestigious Top 8 in Marcoussis, to the European Rugby Sevens Cup, as well as to the unmissable JISPO, TOSS and MINICRIT.

For this semester, our players are preparing to provide a physical, personal and financial commitment that is incomparable. Come by the field to experience great moments, which will shape their journey to the CFE.
